Abstract: Ground pressure behavior at coalface with rotary adjustment mining method differ from the coalface adopting normal mining method. For solving this problem this paper employs FLAC3D software and field measurement to study the distribution of the abutment stress and its dynamic evolution characteristics during the advance of the coalface with 2321 coalface of Jinqiao coal mine as the research background. The research results demonstrate that the asymmetrical distribution of the front abutment stress prior to the arrival of the first periodic weighting at the coalface with the side abutment stress at the upside of the coalface larger than that at the underside. The peak value of the side abutment stress at the upside of the coalface reaches the maximum during the initial weighting. The derived results were validated by the field monitoring results and the engineering significance of this study was finally proposed.
